I grow purple and white alyssum as it grows quickly and spreads to form a nice low border in front of walkways and other plants. Most people love the smell. I'm not a huge fan of the scent but it deters bad insects and deer. I usually sprinkle seeds directly on the ground to add to the seedlings that re-emerge each year.
